embrace - twisted copper sculpture

embrace

Have you noticed how many people use other people? This is what I was thinking about when sculpting this piece. In the same way Satan deceived Eve, promising great and wonderful things, other people are wanting to extract what they can from us. Unfortunately, there seems to be no shortage of people willing to be used in exchange for things that seem quite nice at the time, but end up hurting in the long run...

This sculpture really needs to be experienced in three dimensions. Take a look at the animated, rotating version of this picture - it's 306k, and not as big as this picture, but it gives you an idea of what this piece looks like from other angles.

April 1997 - Height is 25cm, depth is 6cm and wingspan is 34cm. (9.8 x 2.4 x 13.4 inches)
